A. GOD WANTS ALL TO REPENT (2 Pet. 3:9).

C. “UNTO THE REMISSION OF YOUR SINS” (Acts 2:38).
D. A RENEWAL TO WHAT WE OUGHT TO BE (Col. 3:9-10).
E. A RENEWAL OF THE MIND (
A. IT IS NOT:
1. Fear. Felix (Acts 24:24-25). Trembled but didn’t repent.
2. Regret – Judas (Matt. 27:3f). Regretted – metamelomai. Didn’t repent.
3. Sorrow (2 Cor. 7:8-10).
4. Reform (Matt. 3:7-9). Repent and turn (Acts 3:19).
5. Righteous reform is the result of true repentance.
B. WHAT IT IS:
1. metanoia, a change of mind (Thayer's Greek Lexicon).
2. A change of will (Matt. 21:28-31).
3. Illustrated in the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:17-20).
A. THE RIGHT ATTITUDE TOWARD SIN.
1. Abhorance (
a. Separates us from God (Isa. 59:1-2; Rom. 5:10).
b. Condemns us (Ez. 18:20; Rom. 6:23).
2. Guilt (Psa. 32:3-4; 51:3-4).
3. Sorrow in the righteous (Psa. 51:16-17; 2 Cor. 7:9-10).
B. TOWARD GOD.
1. Joseph knew the treachery of sin (Gen. 39:7-9; Psa. 41:4).
2. God’s goodness leads elsewhere.
