B. TIMOTHY ENTRUSTED WITH THE JOB OF TEACHING (2:2).
1. They need to know the pattern to follow it (1:13).
2. They needed to be able to defend the truth (1:14).
C. BEFORE TIMOTHY COULD TEACH IT, HE HAD TO KNOW THE WORD, TOO.
D. IN THE ASSEMBLY WE STUDY THE WORD. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
A. GOD SPEAKS THROUGH HIS SON (Heb. 1:1-2).
C. JESUS SPEAKS THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT (John 14:26; 16:12-13).
D. THE SPIRIT SEARCHES THE DEEP THINGS OF GOD AND DECLARES THEM TO
THE APOSTLES (1 Cor. 2:10-13).
E. GOD’S PLAN FOR SAVING US WAS THUS REVEALED TO THE APOSTLES WHO
SPOKE AND WROTE THE THINGS THEY WERE TOLD (Eph. 3:3-5).
F. THE RESULT IS A REVELATION OF GOD’S MIND (1 Cor. 2:16).
A. WHERE DOES FAITH COME FROM? (Rom. 10:17; John 20:29-30).
B. THE GOSPEL IS GOD’S POWER TO SAVE (Rom. 1:16; James. 1:21).

A. THE EXAMPLE OF THE EARLY CHURCH (Acts 11:26; 20:7ff.).
1. When non-christians are there.
2. When much is covered with little opportunity otherwise.
B. EDIFICATION OF THE BODY (Eph. 4:11-16; Acts 20:32; 1 Thess. 5:11).
C. AN OPPORTUNITY TO PROVOKE THROUGH THE WORD (Heb. 10:24-25).
A. THE GOSPEL IS GOD’S POWER (Rom. 1:16).
B. THEREFORE IT IS SUFFICIENT (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
C. LET’S PUT AWAY HUMAN WORKS THAT EXPRESS HUMAN PHILOSOPHIES
(Col. 2:8; Matt. 15:8-9).
D. THE BIBLE ONLY WILL BE OUR GUIDE (Acts 17:11).
