Daniel’s Vision of the Son of Man

A.    Dan. 7 IS CONFUSING.

        1.     Premillenial “sugar-stick.”

        2.     What is it about?

B.    KEY TO UNDERSTANDING IS OUR TEXT.   SETS THE TIME .

I.     THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN (vs. 13).

A.    ON THE CLOUDS.

        1.     Associates with the 2nd coming

               (Matt. 24:30;  Rev. 1:7;  1 Thess. 4:16-17).

        2.     Other possibilities (Isa. 19:1;  Matt. 26:64).

B.    WHERE DOES HE GO ON THE CLOUDS?

        1.     To the Ancient of Days (vs. 13God (vs. 9, 22).

        2.     When does Jesus approach God on a cloud (Acts 1:9-11).

C.    REFERS TO THE ASCENSION.


II.    THEN HE RECEIVES THREE THINGS:

A.    DOMINION – “RULE, OR POWER TO RULE, SOVEREIGN

        AUTHORITY.” – Webster

        1.     Jesus claimed dominion (Matt. 28:18;  John 12:48-49).

        2.     When did he receive it? (Acts 2:36;  Eph. 1:20-23).

        3.     What does this mean? (Col. 3:17).

B.    GLORY.

        1.     Jesus, being the Son of God is worthy (Rev. 5:12-14).

        2.     Jesus was appointed to honor (Isa. 9:6;  42:1).

        3.     The desire of Jesus (John 17:1,  4-5).

        4.     God glorified Jesus (Acts 3:13;  Phil. 2:9-11).

C.    KINGDOM.

        1.     What kingdom? (Dan. 3:36-44).

        2.     What is its nature?

               a.     All people (Acts 10:34-35).

               b.     Shall not pass away (Matt. 24:35).

               c.     Shall not be destroyed (Matt. 12:28).

        3.     Other passages (Luke 17:20-21;  John 18:36).

        4.     But when? (Mark 1:14-15;  9:1;  Acts 1:6-8;  Col. 1:13-14; 

               Heb. 12:28;  Dan. 7:13-14).

        5.     Kingdom of prophecy The Church (1 Pet. 2:9;  Col. 1:13).
