Jesus, The Way To Eternal Life

TEXT:  John 14:6

INTRODUCTION:

A.      JESUS IS THE WAY TO A BETTER LIFE, TO FORGIVENESS, TO GOD

          AND OUT OF RELIGIOUS CONFUSION.

B.      HE IS ALSO THE WAY TO ETERNAL LIFE.

          1.       Sometimes used of abundant living( John 17:3;  1 John 5:13, 20 ).

          2.       We refer at this time to living forever( Dan. 12:2;  Titus 3:7 ).

I.      WHY JESUS IS THE WAY TO ETERNAL LIFE.

A.      HE HAS PREPARED A PLACE FOR US( John 14:2 ).

B.      HE HAS PROMISED TO COME AND RECEIVE US( John 14:3 ).

C.      PAUL ON HIS COMING( 1 Thess. 4:15-17 )

D.      HE IS JUDGE OF WHO WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE( Matt. 25:31, 41, 46 ).

          1.       Jesus will determine our fate( 2 Cor. 5:10 ).

          2.       How essential, then, that we be found acceptable in HIS sight!

E.      OUR HOME WITH JESUS AND GOD IS MORE WONDERFUL THAN CAN

          BE DESCRIBED( Rev. 21:1-4, 22-23; 22:1-5 ).

          1.       Eternal life is our hope( Titus 1:2;  Col 3:1-4 ).

          2.       Paul was anxious for it( 2 Cor. 5:8;  Phil. 1:23 )

F.      ETERNAL LIFE IS IN JESUS( 1 John 5:11-12 ).

II.     WHAT JESUS TEACHES ABOUT ETERNAL LIFE.

A.      NOBODY WILL GET TO HEAVEN BY ACCIDENT.

          1.       Narrow, straightened way( Matt. 7:13-14; Luke 13:24 )

          2.       Parable of the Wedding Feast( Matt. 22:1-2,  11-14 ).

          3.       The Ten Virgins( Matt. 25:1-13 ).

          4.       Obedience and Diligence( Matt. 7:21;  2 Pet. 1:10 ).

B.      JESUS TAUGHT ALSO ABOUT THE ALTERNATIVE.

          1.       Matt. 25:41, 46;  Rev. 20:10-15;  21:8.

          2.       You don't have to work to get here.  It can be accidental( Matt. 7:13 ).

          3.       For the disobedient( 2 Thes. 1:7-9 ).

CONCLUSION:

A.      GOD'S DESIRE FOR ALL( 1 Tim. 2:3-4;  2 Pet. 3:9 ).

B.      GOD SENT HIS SON TO DIE FOR ALL( 2 Cor. 5:14-15 ).

C.      HE DIED FOR YOU AND ME.  WON'T YOU LIVE FOR HIM.
