Moses In Hebrews

TEXTHeb. 11:24-27

INTRODUCTION:

A.      Rom. 15:4.

B.      WE WANT TO SEE MOSES AS THE WRITER OF HEBREWS SAW HIM.

I.      REJECTED EARTHLY GLORY - REFUSED TO BE CALLED

        THE SON OF PHARAOH'S DAUGHTER.

A.      CONTRAST PAUL AND THE PHARISEES( John 12:42-43; 1 Thes. 2:5-6 ).

B.      WE MUST BEWARE OF THE TEMPTATION( 2 Tim. 4:3-4; James 3:1 ).

C.      WE CAN'T SERVE GOD AND MAN( Gal. 1:10 ).

II.     A WISE CHOICE - TO SHARE ILL TREATMENT WITH THE

        PEOPLE OF GOD.

A.      MAN IS A FREE MORAL AGENT.  HE CAN CHOOSE( Rev. 22:17 ).

          1.       All are invited( 1 Tim. 2:3-4 ).

          2.       His promise is conditioned( Acts 2:38;  2 Cor. 6:1-2 ).

B.      WE MUST CHOOSE( Matt. 6:24 ), WITHOUT DELAY( James 4:14 ).

III.    CORRECTLY APPRAISED RICHES - ACCOUNTED THE

REPROACH OF CHRIST GREATER RICHES THAN THE

        TREASURES OF EGYPT.

A.      CONSTANTLY WARNED( Mat. 6:19-21; 1 Tim. 6:9-10, 17 ).

B.      LOOK AT IT FROM THE OTHER SIDE( 2 Cor. 4:16-18; 5:1 ).

IV.   LIVED A SEPARATED LIFE - HE FORSOOK EGYPT.

A.      CHRISTIANS ARE CITIZENS OF ANOTHER WORLD( Phil.3:20 ).

B.      WE ARE NOT TO PICK UP ANY BAD HABITS( 1 Pet. 2:11-12 ).

C.      THIS WILL MAKE US DIFFERENT( Mat. 5:13 ).

D.      IT MAY INVITE MATERIAL DISASTER( 1 Pet. 4:3-4; Mat. 5:10-12 ).

V.    FEARED GOD, NOT MAN - NOT FEARING THE WRATH OF THE KING.

A.      PHARAOH HAD THE POWER OF LIFE AND DEATH!

B.      WE ALSO HAVE THE EXAMPLE OF THE APOSTLES( Acts 4:19;  5:29 ).

C.      Matthew 10:28;  Rom. 8:31.

VI.   PERSEVERED - HE ENDURED.

A.      SOMETHING HE SAW ENABLED HIM TO ENDURE( Heb. 1:1-2 ).

B.      WE OUGHT TO HAVE OUR EYES ON THE SAME FIGURE( Col. 3:1-2 ).

C.      WE WILL ALL HAVE TRIALS TO OVERCOME:

          1.       They will build us up and make us stronger( James 1:2-4 ).

          2.       They will gain for us heaven( 1 Pet. 1:6-9 ).

CONCLUSIONMOSES IS PRESENTED AS AN IDEAL CHARACTER.
