What Think Ye of the Christ?
A. JESUS' QUESTION: "WHAT THINK YE OF THE CHRIST?"
B. WE NEED TO ASK THE QUESTION OF OURSELVES.
1. What we think will determine how we live - how we respond to Jesus.
2. What we think will determine where we spend eternity.
C. DO WE THINK HIGHLY ENOUGH OF JESUS?
A. SOME IN A MATERIALISTIC WAY - WHAT HE COULD GIVE.
1. They wanted an earthly king( John 6:15; Matt. 21:6-11 ).
2. They wanted to be fed( John 6:26-34 ).
3. They wanted physical solutions( Luke 17:11-19 ).
4. Jesus didn't offer a kingdom( John 18:36 ).
5. He didn't offer gratification of the flesh( John 6:35; Luke 9:57-58 ).
6. In fact ... ( Matt. 10:34-39 ).
B. SOME WERE OUTRIGHT HOSTILE.
1. Herod( Matt. 2 ).
2. The Jews( Matt. 27:18; Acts 3:17-18 ).
C. SOME WERE AFRAID, LIKE PILATE( Matt. 10:32-33; John 12:42-43 ).
D. SOME THOUGHT OF JESUS AS MERELY A GREAT TEACHER
( Matt. 16:13-14; John 7:45-47; but John 5:17-18 ).
E. SOME TOOK HIM LIGHTLY BECAUSE THEY "GREW UP WITH HIM"
( Matt. 13:54-58; John 1:11 ).
F. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF JESUS? HOW IS THAT EFFECTING YOU?
WHAT KIND OF FRUIT DO YOU BEAR?
A. THE CREATOR( John 1:1-3 ). DEITY!!!!
B. THE SON OF GOD( Matt. 16:15-17; Rom. 1:14 ).
C. THE SACRIFICE FOR SIN( 1 Pet. 2:24 ).
D. THE REDEEMER( 1 Pet. 1:18-19 ).
E. OUR SAVIOR( John 14:6; Acts 4:12 ).
F. WHAT DID HE DO?( Heb. 10:19-20 ).
G. HOW DOES THAT EFFECT US?( vs. 21-24 ).
H. HE IS GOD'S CHOSEN RULER( Eph. 1:20-23 ).
I. WE MUST OBEY HIM( Heb. 5:8-9 ).
J. KNOWING JESUS WILL EFFECT OUR LIVES( 2 Cor. 5:14-15; Rom. 2:4 ).
A. DO YOU HAVE A CORRECT VIEW OF JESUS?
B. IS THE TRUTH OF JESUS REFLECTED IN YOUR LIFE?
